Recently, I was asked if I still read to stay in the loop on articles on commercial real estate trends or if I rely solely on social media. The answer is, that I still read daily, usually while working out in the morning. It’s time well invested, and below is my daily reading list:
- The Wall Street Journal – I start every morning (on the treadmill) with the WSJ. It is the nation’s newspaper for business and the economy.
- CRE Daily – Economic news and notable deals covering the four main property types.
- Bisnow First Draft – Washington news and a mix of larger deals from around the country.
- Morning Brew Daily – A good mix of business and economic news. I listen to this podcast on my way in when I get weary of NPR or Fox Business.
- Real Estate Alert – Weekly headlines on the institutional market.
- Crain’s Detroit Business – Weekly articles on local real estate happenings.
To stay ahead and informed, it’s important for me to be both a good student of my business and a hard-working practitioner. There has never been as much quality journalism and timely information from around the country (and the world) as there is right now. You should take every opportunity to educate yourself.
While social media can help, there’s nothing like reading trusted sources for deeper insights like these articles on commercial real estate. By making time each day to read, I stay on top of the latest trends and news, helping me make smarter decisions for my clients. Whether you’re new to the business or have years of experience, reading quality articles is a great way to keep learning and growing. Make it a habit to stay informed—it’s an investment in your future success.
